Time Based Art

Sat Oct 6, 2007, 9:31 AM
Well it's been ages since I've been on dA, let alone updated my Journal, so I feel the need to give everyone the 411 on what's been happening on the art side of things in my life. You may or may not have read that I got into Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee last year. From there I completed the first year general course - which is basically a year of hardcore back to basics artwork and then some more specialised work come semester 2. Originally I wanted to move on and do Graphic Design for my degree but a last minute change of heart has seen me apply, get in to and now presently doing a degree in Time Based Art.

What is Time Based Art you all wonder? Well, it's like a Fine Art degree that specialises in video, sound and installation works. I've taken this new direction because, well, drawing is over rated. I love to draw in all senses of the word, but I just couldn't see it as my future - call it practicality and a lack of wanting to compete in a field that already has talent that aspires only to the lowest paid of work. So I thought, at least if I'm gonna be a bum artists, I can be a bum artist who has explored other means of creation. And it's great. I would like to get a website up and running where I can show my work, especially since I can't post it on dA.

So that's that then, happily working my way through second year, living in Dundee. I will be sure to post any photography pieces that bare relevance to TBA. Or just some regular drawings that I may do in my spare time.

Peace out.
